Richard W. Silver
CEO & Chief Investment Officer
Rick is the founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of Mad River Investors.
He has been an entrepreneur in the investment business since 1983 and has raised, invested, and managed hundreds of millions of high net worth dollars, one relationship at a time. He co-founded Mad River Management, LLC in 1991, Long Point Investors, L.P. in 1992, and MRM-Horizon Advisors, LLC in 1999 (d/b/a Mad River Investors). Rick has over two decades of experience in partnering with investment managers, and delivering results and service to discriminating clients. He has presented on fund of funds and high net worth wealth issues at Deloitte, Boston Private Bank, and IFR client conferences.
Rick holds a Series 65 license and is the Managing Member of Mad River Investors. Prior to founding Mad River, he was a registered representative with Gruntal & Co, H.C. Wainwright, Homans McGraw Trull Valeo & Co. and Smith Barney. Before joining the investment business, Rick held financial management positions with CPC International and Tiger International. Rick earned an MBA, cum laude, from Northeastern University in 1981. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Boston University Academy.
Joshua M. Stewart
Portfolio Manager, Managing Director — Client Relations
Josh returned to Mad River in 2001 after a brief tenure with Putnam Investments. He leads our Managed Opportunities Account business and has been instrumental in its founding, growth, and execution. He plays an integral role in Long Point's investment manager identification, selection, and ongoing due diligence process and also leads our Client Relations efforts.
Josh lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts, with his wife and two daughters. He holds a Series 65 license and is a graduate of Northeastern University with a BS in finance (May 2000). He has worked in the investment business since 1997, also having positions with Mad River Management, LLC (January 1997 - April 2000) and Putnam Investments (August 2000 - June 2001).
Chief Operating Officer/General Counsel
Since September 2015, Stephen has served as COO, working with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer and other staff to oversee and implement all operational aspects of Mad River. Stephen has served as Chief Compliance Officer since 2008 and has been legal counsel and compliance, regulatory, and strategy consultant for Mad River since 2004.
Stephen has worked in the financial services business since 1997 as a regulatory and business strategy consultant, and chief compliance officer for hedge funds, SEC-registered investment advisers, registered investment companies, and broker-dealers. From 1997 to 2003, he served as General Counsel and Vice President for Strategic Planning at Delta Equity Services Corp., a registered broker-dealer. From 2004 to 2014 he operated his own legal, regulatory, and business consulting firm.
Stephen has an undergraduate degree from American University and Law and MBA degrees from Boston University where he graduated cum laude. He is the Co-Director of the Winterbird Road Homeowners Association and is on the Board of Directors of the Town of Bedford, Massachusetts youth baseball organization.
Lynn T. Kodama
Managing Director — Client Services
Lynn joined Mad River in 1999. She manages the day-to-day operations of our Long Point Investors program and leads our Mad River client service efforts. She has been instrumental in the development and execution of Mad River's unique client centric reporting and service platform, and is an integral contributor to our ongoing development and expansion. As head of Client Services, Lynn is our client advocate and ombudsman, and ensures the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all client communications.
Her prior experience includes 9 years with a privately held real estate investment company in Boston, with Morgan Stanley in New York City,
and with Pacific Resources, Inc., in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lynn is a graduate of the University of Hawaii.
John J. Parisi, Jr.
Managing Director — Finance & Administration
John joined Mad River in 2005. He leads our accounting, audit, technology, and purchasing areas and, as our virtual stage manager, keeps the back office and infrastructure "humming." He was previously Regional Administrative Manager with Honeywell International's Utility Solutions business line.
John is a graduate of Northeastern University and holds a Green Belt in Six Sigma Plus. He enjoys carpentry and hiking and is the volunteer Production Manager for the Randolph Theater Company, where he assists in set design and construction. In his little spare time, he enjoys going to theater and traveling.
Denise joined Mad River in 2006. She provides administrative support, assists in all daily operations, and is often the warm and welcoming voice of Mad River. Previously she managed client service at Honeywell Utility Solutions. She enjoys reading, movies, and doing genealogy research.
